Congratulations to Pasternack Tilker Attorneys Recognized As 2018 Super Lawyers

This is the 13th consecutive year Ziegler has been selected, the 12th consecutive selection for Stanton, the 10th for Pasternack, the 9th for Romano and the 5th for Walsh.

Senior Partner Catherine Stanton Named One Of Super Lawyers 2016 Top Women Attorneys in New York Metro

Congratulations to Senior Partner Catherine Stanton, who has been named one of Super Lawyers Top Women Attorneys in New York Metro 2016. Ms. Stanton is the only Workers’ Compensation lawyer on this year’s list.

Ms. Stanton is a senior partner at Pasternack Tilker Ziegler Walsh Stanton & Romano, LLP and head of our workers’ compensation department. She has been named as a Super Lawyer the area of workers’ compensation by Super Lawyers magazine each year 2007-2014. Starting in March 2015, Ms. Stanton earned a spot on the New York Super Lawyers Women’s Edition list. The is the second year in a row that she has received this honor.

Ms. Stanton graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University in 1986 and the Marshall Wythe School of Law, at the College of William and Mary, in 1989. She began working with the firm as an attorney in 1990 and became a partner in 1998. Ms. Stanton served as President of WILG, Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group from 2012-2013 which is a national non-profit membership organization dedicated to representing the interests of millions of workers and their families who, each year, suffer the consequences of workplace injuries and illnesses. Ms. Stanton is the current Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section for the American Association for Justice, a national organization that supports plaintiff trial lawyers.

Locally, Ms. Stanton was recently installed as a director for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. She is a past president of the Society of New York Workers Compensation’ Bar Association which is a bipartisan organization compromised of attorneys representing all parties to a workers’ compensation claim to work toward common goals. She is currently the Vice President of the Brehon Law Society of Nassau County which is focused on monitoring and eradication of violations of human rights and civil liberties principally but not exclusively in the north of Ireland.

She also has received the highest rating through AVVO, and was named a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation in March 2015, an honor that is given to attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice in the field of workers’ compensation.

Congratulations to Partner Michael Gruber, New President-Elect of WILG

Partner Michael Gruber is the new President-Elect of WILG, the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group. He joins a long list of partners at our firm who have served on WILG’s leadership team, including past presidents Edgar Romano and Catherine Stanton, who currently serve on the WILG board alongside Victor Pasternack.

Michael Gruber has been a workers’ compensation lawyer since 1996. In addition to litigating workers compensation claims, he oversees the Workers Compensation Appellate Division practice at the firm and has been successful in numerous appeals to the New York State Appellate Division, Third Department. In 2012, Mr. Gruber was named as the chairman of the Workers Compensation Committee of the Brooklyn Bar Association. He is also a member of the Injured Workers Bar Association and the Workers Compensation Alliance, organizations focusing on workers compensation issues in New York. He regularly lectures on workers compensation law to various labor organizations.

Taking A Stand For Workers – Partners Earn National Recognition Through Service

Several of our attorneys recently attended the Workers Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) Annual Convention, held at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. At this conference, Micheal Gruber was elected and sworn in as WILG’s new Secretary.

Catherine Stanton Joins EAC Network Board of Directors

We are happy to announce that Senior Partner Catherine M. Stanton has joined the Board of Directors of EAC Network. Catherine is a long-time supporter of EAC Network and was honored at the agency’s annual Light of Hope Luncheon in 2013 for her outstanding support. She serves on the event’s Committee each year and has always been an invaluable friend to EAC Network.

“I’ve inundated Cathy with invitations and pleas to join our Board for some time now,” jests Lance Elder, President & CEO at EAC Network, “and knowing she takes such commitments very seriously, I was overjoyed when she finally accepted to be a part of our team.”

Catherine is no stranger to the nonprofit world.  She is involved in Brandworkers’ International, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Public Justice. And from 2012-2013  she  served as President of Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG), a national non-profit membership organization dedicated to representing the interests of millions of workers and their families who, each year, suffer the consequences of workplace injuries and illnesses.

“I was hesitant to join the Board at first because I wanted to make sure I could offer EAC Network the attention and dedication it deserves.  I’m glad I can finally prioritize an agency that means so much to me,” says Catherine.

Congratulations To Partners Matthew Funk And Cathy Stanton On Roles With NYSTLA For 2014

On June 24 at Oheka Castle on Long Island, Partner Matthew A. Funk was elected Deputy Treasurer of the New York State Trial Lawyers Assocation. Mr. Funk has been practicing law since 1999 and became a partner at the firm in 2007. He is a member of the Injured Workers Bar Association, participating in online round table discussions regarding the rights of injured workers. He is a Workers Compensation Committee member of the New York Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH). Mr. Funk regularly lectures on the workers compensation law to various labor organizations. Currently, he is actively engaged in extensive workers compensation litigation.
